As a mother of two young children, and an elementary school counselor-I’ve come across several different types of kids with different sensory needs! All children have different sensory preferences-some with more specialized needs, and others that just need a little extra regulation help. The important thing for children with sensory sensitivity is to help them feel safe and secure to help their bodies feel calm and regulated.

My son is a sensory seeker which means he craves sensory input. He also needs extra support with regulation skills and calming anxious nerves. I’ve found that certain products help him find his calm body.

Sensory products can be a life savor when it comes to helping children regulate themselves! They are especially useful for children with ADHD, Autism, and anxiety-but all children can benefit from items that bring them a sense of calm and security. Below are some of my favorite sensory products for calm body kids.

Sensory Tent

This cozy tent is excellent for children to have quiet time in. It’s dark inside, and you can add in a cozy blanket and star lamp to make it extra special.

Sensory Sock

This sensory sock is ideal to help a child feel snug as a bug in a rug!

Sensory Chair

This cozy chair pod is the perfect place for kids to sit and read, or take a nap.

Sensory swing

A sensory swing is the perfect way for kids to get the swaying motion they need to regulate their wiggles. Be sure to check how you want to install your swing, as these typically hang from the ceiling.

Weighted Blanket

A weighted blanket helps kids feel calm simply by adding extra comfort and pressure.

Lap Pal

This lap pal provides a sense of comfort and companionship to its happy owner!

Blanket Hoodie

So cozy and soft-it’s like being wrapped in a hug!

There are so many great sensory products out there to try, but I can say from experience that these are some of the most useful ones I’ve found!

When it comes to helping kids find their calm body, products that give a sense of security and comfort are the way to go.

What are some ways you help your child find their calm body?
